Maharashtra is the central state of India. It’s not just a geographic location. Twice, it was the administrative centre of India in the 14th and 17th centuries. The Sultanate of Delhi and the Great Mughal Empire had elected few cities in Maharashtra as their new capital. As per spirituality, Maharashtra is central to the lives of millions of Indians. The state has 3 holy cities of 3 different religions. Nashik is the holy city of the Hindu God Ram, Khuldabad is the second most important city for Sufism in India and finally, Nanded is one of the 4 holy cities of Sikhism. Furthermore, there are total 60 sites of caves in India and Maharashtra has 28; two monastery UNESCO caves are Ajanta and Ellora Caves which are in Aurangabad region. Finally, Maharashtra has this incredible culture which is a mixture between the culture of north India and the culture of south India. Visiting Maharashtra is like visiting a little India. You will find everything you are looking for in a trip to Maharashtra.
