The Bridge of Lies, one of the most important tourist attractions in Sibiu, the first bridge of iron on the modern day territory of Romania, was shot in Laubach , in the Land of Hessa and mounted in Sibiu in 1859, replacing a wooden bridge. The bridge connects the Small Square and the Huet Square, passing over Ocnei street, which connects the city beneath with the city from above. The elements of the bridge have dimensions of about 5 meters long and 1.6 meters tall and the opening of the bridge is 10.5 meters.

It was called the “Bridge of lies” or “Liars Bridge” because of the legend that says that the bridge will collapse if someone will sit on it and tell a lie. In the local oral tradition circulates various legends about this bridge, legends about the lovers lies or those of the merchants that sold in the area.

An old story says that a boy, who liked to lie, went on a trip. In return, he told his father that on the way he met a dog as big as a horse. Hearing this, the father told his son about the bridge of lies, telling him that he must The one who lied,  will certainly break a leg. Immediately, the size of the dog from the child’s story began to decrease.

Another legend about the Bridge of Lies is related to the commerce in markets next to it. The merchants caught with lies were taken on the bridge and cast off him, hoping that they learn to remember and never cheat the customers.

The most spicy legend about the bridge is about the  bodily cleanliness of the young girls who were meeting with boys. Here was brood the future of youths, there were made the plans for marriage, and if the girls lied, claiming that they were righteous, they were thrown from the Bridge of Lies.
