Les grenats : quelques gouttes scintillantes du précieux sang de la Bohême

Les grenats : quelques gouttes scintillantes du précieux sang de la Bohême

The most iconic gemstone in Bohemia is traditionally garnet. And the whole range garnets, whose colors range from orange to green, the Czech garnet has been for centuries the most appreciated for its quality and best side. It is a dark red blood, but pure and velvety. Its impressive brightness is due to a high refractive index: it looks like it "ignites" in the light, and that is why it is also called the "pyrope" (from the Greek "pyros" the fire). Bohemian garnet perfect, of a certain size, is an extraordinarily rare; nothing is more common, however, very small volume. In a way, we can say that the garnet is rarer than diamond: many more diamonds extracted in the world of pyrope. Multiple pyropes emblematic of the Austro-Hungarian jewelry were therefore traditionally arranged around a typical large central stone, often a almandine. Nowadays, there are as many frames old style as modern pieces that highlight this beautiful semi-precious stone which is traditionally said she should always keep the color and sparkle of a good red wine. Garnet is known as a birthstone and health benefits: it would be good, they say, for blood circulation and arthritic conditions. Please note: the center of Prague is full of goldsmiths who offer substantial discounts. In this case, the vigilance is needed because many jewelers (fifteen jewelers subject to inspection, thirteen proved to be counterfeiters) sell less valuable varieties of garnet stones or synthetic, or, the worst case, glass worthless by passing for garnets, even accompanied by false certificates of authenticity! It is therefore important to know that a garnet gem is decorated with many small stones set on its periphery as the grains of a pomegranate fruit (if the stone is larger, in the best case it is an almandine). In addition, the authentic Czech garnets produced by the Czech company "Granát Turnov" are stamped letters G or G1. Their certificate has a small hologram that is not falsifiable. Apart from this business, there are a limited number of Czech family farmers, such Šperk Drahoňovský Studio, renowned for the quality of their work. In this case, the jewelry have a punch and are provided with a company's own certificate.
