Violent crime against tourists is rare, and most visitors - including solo travelers, families, and cruise passengers on short shore excursions - report feeling safe and welcomed throughout their trip. As with any destination, standard travel precautions apply: keep valuables secure in crowded markets, use registered transport, and avoid displaying large amounts of cash.
