Do you have only 24 hours to explore Kyiv?

No doubt, 24 hours won’t be enough, because there are so many things to see and to do in Kyiv. However, this time is enough to get a glimpse of the city, fall in love with it and return again as soon as possible. I’m sure, within such a short period of time, you’ll have an opportunity to do a heap of wonderful things in Kyiv. Read on for my tips how to get a great taste of the Kyiv city in just 24 hours.

First, there are plenty of hotels and hostels in the downtown, and you don’t need to spend much time getting to key landmarks. I understand how important the cost is. But Ukraine is a budget-friendly destination.

Start the morning with a cozy breakfast at one of the cafes located in Khreshchatyk Street and fuel up for a day of exploring Kyiv. A few minutes further on you there is the Independence Square or Maidan Nezalezhnosti. It is the central square of the city and the most stunning one. There’s a path that leads up from the square to St Sophia’s Cathedral, an amazing masterpiece built in the 11th century. Opposite this cathedral, you can find one more incredible creation - St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery. This gold-domed blue church is still a functioning monastery. Then make your way down Andrew’s Descent, one of the most ancient and famous streets in Kyiv. People also call it the Ukrainian Montmartre, as you can find lots of art galleries, museums, theatres and buy some hand-made souvenirs there. However, its main highlight is incredible baroque style St.Andrew's Church that stands on a hill.

If you’re hungry, make a lunch break and taste traditional Ukrainian cuisine in one of the restaurants located in the street. If you still have the energy, take a walk through Podil area, a historic neighborhood of Kyiv, and reach the Postal square to enjoy breathtaking views of the Dnipro River. To come back to the downtown, take the subway or funicular that is also one of the main symbols of the city.

For nightlife seekers, Kyiv offers plenty of options, including pubs, bars and nightclubs.

Welcome to Kyiv! I’m convinced you‘ll find Ukraine a beautiful country with great food and friendly people, and what is also important, one of the cheapest destinations in Europe.
