Regarding location, you should make sure it is a downtown hotel, and also it is near to metro station so you can move simply and freely with no need to hire a taxi in every time you go around.
Your hotel also should not be very fancy like Burj Arab and Armani of Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the Emirates palace of Abu Dhabi, and also not a need to be five stars one.
A good 4 stars hotel (or even 3) will be so much good, you firstly have to make sure it is really a good hotel with good service. You also do not like to suffer!

3. Air Transportation
Both cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi are listed on the operations of almost of air carriers in world, and since we travel on budget we need to review those carriers and choose the most cheap one of them. and to save money of air tickets, we may follow the below tips:
a. Try to get your flight tickets as early as you can, as much you do earlier as much you get lower fare.
b. Reduce the weight of your luggage as much you can, you do like to be charged for overweight of course. c. Choose budget air carrier and budget class on flight!
