The area begins from 160 kilometer north of Kathmandu and is known for being an easy trek which offers you a very warm hospitality from the Mangolian people of the area who belong to the Tamangs and Lama community known as Siemens or jhankri. Most of the people in this area are either Hindu or Buddhist. The great Himalayan peaks here are known as an ever shining white diamond crown of Nepal.

The Langtang trek will take you to the main Himalayan range towards the north and slightly down towards the twin peaks Langtang Lirung 7246 m asl on the north. The other attraction of the area are Gang Chhimpo 6388 m asl, Naya Khang ri 5846 m asl on south and Dorje lhakpa 6966 m asl, which stand as a protector of the valley. This trek to Langtang offers you the silent music of rivers, waterfall and sound from the birds and bugs which provide a different kind of entertainment to our trekkers and makes it the no 1 destination that can be visited by adults, kids as well as senior citizens. This trek is very popular with artists, who love to be in peace with nature and try to paint them on their canvas.

As a experienced freelance trekking guide in Langtang, what I know about this valley is that the word langtang was derived from languagelang - tibetan of yak and dhang - tibetan of fallow. It literally means a yak ran away from his owner and the local people while following the yak discovered the beautiful valley.

Langtang is the nearby destination from Kathmandu, where you can get fresh yak cheese made by the locals who run the business from the donation they get from the Japanese people who brought this cheese processing technology from Italy. If you are planning to visit here, our trekking guide will assist you in communicating with the local people to know more about the local product of the community. This way, the locals might get some donations or aid from you to develop their business.

From Kyanjin Gompa, you will have a chance to climb a ridge on Yala Peak, or hike till the foot of Langshisa glacier, for an incredible view of glaciers, icebergs and snow fields surrounded on all sides by high mountains. The Helambu villages, over the holy Gosainkunda lakes and Laurebenayak pass, are home of the Sherpas of Nepal. Their slate and single-roofed villages, that dot the terraced hillsides, present a wonderful trekking experience. The region of Langtang and Helambu, although easily approached from Kathmandu, is far less trekked than the Annapurna or Everest areas, making it all the more attractive.

Wish you a wonderful nature trek.
