French start to occupied Cambodia from 1863- 1953. 9th of November is Cambodia independence’s day. French started to develop Phnompenh to be modern by built lots of buildings from 1885-1940. By turning Phnompenh to be commercial city french allowed foreigners come to do business and stay. Phnompenh became mix of people from European, Vietnam, Chinese…. Then French built many hundreds building for rent for those people. Chinese temple, European church have been built, beside of that food also influenced. You will start at post office square which is gather of french buildings and then explore more which is hidden in the small alley and back street of the city.
