STORY OF FOOD IN CAMBODIA

Cambodians eat almost every live creature from a little tiny insect, bug, to big animal, but the fresh water fish is still the main choice of the day. Fish is eaten as many as 25 days in a month. Not even monks and nuns are vegetarian

Amok Fish and Rice

If you would like to try one of those insects go try it at Angkor Kjungyu fun and fair. They sell all kind of fried grasshopper, water beetle, spider…etc. Fried foods (a lot of influence from French), salad, soup and grill are uniquely cooked using fish sauce and fish paste inside and dressing. Steamed rice is the main food in the 3 meals of the day. Bread and noodle are served in a special meeting family and friend.

Amok is one of best cuisines, a real Cambodian traditional food which is prepared in a banana leaf wrapper with vegetables, coconut cream, kaffir lime and sliced bell pepper.

Fish banana blossom soup is another special cuisine that you could find they eat daily. Banana flower salad is one of best salad which is a mix bland all the dried thing together then add all the rest to mixed well.

Red curry chicken is truly traditional food and special for the family meeting and served in ceremonial party as well as new year celebration. The vegetable are used here sweet potato, onion, carrot, peanut, long bean and ingredient such as star anise, cinnamon stick, coconut milk, sugar and fish sauce. The curry paste is the mixture of lemon grass, galangal, turmeric. All are minced.
