Itinerary
Day 1.Saturday -ADDIS ABEBA CITY TOUR
Arrival in Addis Ababa. Welcome by the guide. Visit the sights of Addis Ababa: The Trinity Cathedral, the National Museum, Entoto Mountains, St. George Church and the “Mercato”. O/N in 3* standard Hotel (BB//-)
Day 2. -ADDIS ABEBA- BAHIR DAR
Travel by private bus to Bahir Dar. En route short visit of the monastery of Debre Markos and later crossing of the impressive Blue Nile Valley. O/n in Gasa htl (B/L/D)
Day 3. - BAHIR DAR, BLUE NILE FALLS AND LAKE TANA
In the morning city tour and a visit to the market of Bahir Dar. In the afternoon a boat excursion on Lake Tana, to visit some of the monasteries and churches which are found on the islands and peninsulas and which are well-equipped with religious relics and arts. O/N in Gasa htl (B/L/D)
Day 4. - BAHIR DAR- GONDAR (African Camelot)
In the morning we visit the Blue Nile Falls in Tiss isat near Bahir Dar. This excursion includes a walking tour of approximately one hour. In the afternoon continue driving to Gondar. O/N in Taye htl /Mintwab lodge (B/L/D)
Day 5. GONDAR CITY TOUR
In Gondar visit Emperor Fasil’s castle in the centre of the city and Fasil’s Bath which is filled with water during the Timkat celebrations each year in January. Afternoon visit to Debre Birhan Selassie church, adorned with angels on the ceiling, and with religious paintings and decorations on the walls. O/N in Taye htl/ Mintwab lodge (B/L/D)
Day 6. -GONDAR-SIMIEN MOUNTAINS
Early departure for the country’s highest mountains. Arriving in the Simien Mountains National Park do a hike to enjoy the amazing views and view mountain animals such as Chillada Baboons and Walia Ibex. In the afternoon return to Debark, the small village on the foot of the mountains. O/N in Simien park htl (B/L/D)
Day 7. - SIMIEN MOUNTAINS - AXUM
Travel on a serpentine road along the Simien Mountains with beautiful views over the peaks and valleys. After crossing the valley of the river Tekezze, arrival in the Tigray region. In the afternoon arrival in the historic capital of Axum. O/N in Remhai htl (B/L/D)
Day 8. -AXUM CITY TOUR
A.M after taking BB, Visit historic and religious sites in the city of Axum: the stelae field, the historical museum, the ruins of the palace of Queen of Sheba, the underground tombs of Kaleb and other kings and the church of Our Lady of Zion with their treasures. O/N in Remhai htl (B/L/D)
Day 9. - AXUM- LALIBELA
Flight from Axum to Lalibela. Transfer to the town and visit of the rock-hewn churches, the famous UNESCO Heritage site of Ethiopia, unique in the world. The fascinating churches are important testimonies of early Christianity and the culture of ancient Ethiopia. O/N in Roha htl (B/L/D)
Day 10. - LALIBELA (the New Jerusalem in Ethiopia)
Visit the second group of rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, as well as the Nakto Leab church built inside a cave in the vicinity of Lalibela. In the afternoon participation in a private coffee ceremony in town. O/N in Roha htl (B/L/D)
Day 11. -LALIBELA- ADDIS ABEBA.
Transfer to the airport of Lalibela and domestic flight to Addis Ababa. The afternoon is free for shopping, walking and visiting more sights in the city. In the evening traditional farewell dinner with dancing presentations and transfer to the airport for return flight. (B/L/D).
