Jogjakarta and sorounding are rich of historical sites. From the very famous unesco sites, Borobudur and Prambanan, to very unknown small marginal sites. Most of the ancient sites are Hindust and Budhist Temples which were built on 7th to 10th century. Many temples are buried under volcanic materials of Merapi.  

They are the hidden temples. The treasure that need to be rediscovered. Exploring this marginal sites means visiting less touristic place. There are no public transport, no souvenir shops, and no people who are trying to sell crafts to you. The roads are bad and small, sometimes you have to walk to get to the temple ruin.
