This Mansion won the UNESCO Heritage Conservation Award Year 2000 for the best preserved Mansion. Better known as the Blue Mansion, it is located at 14 Leith Street, and used to be the home of a very influential businessman, Cheong Fatt Tze born in Guangdong China.
Owner of several ships that sail between Malaya and Sumatera, transporting rubber, tin , coffee, tea and etc, through his business he had managed to acquire a strong financial status to establish a bank.
Through his hard work, he gained recognition as a Chinese Consul in Penang. He made Penang the base of his business. He had 8 wives! and was also known as the Rockfeller of the east.
He passed away in 1916 in Indonesia.
