Perhaps Cantona is one of my favorite archaeological sites in Mexico.
I never feel time in this place, surrounded by desert vegetation and some mystery.
It is hard to imagine life hundreds of years ago… but at the same time is fascinating to think how people lived.
According to researchers, the city had a perfect urban development. Thanks to the construction type and the system of internal streets, we know that there was a powerful control access to this site.
Cantona has the largest number of ballgame courts in Mesoamerica and there are some lakes lying in shallow volcanic craters, sustained by underground water.
The best way to get to Cantona is by car, since it’s located 1.5 hrs from Puebla city and public transportation is not available in the area.
