There are a number of  notable birds that can be enjoyed by bird watchers such as; Mountain greenbul Common, African harrier hawk Common, Green pigeon Common, Giant kingfisher Common, Cinnamon-chested bee-eater, Crowned hornbill Common African broadbill, African green broadbill, Black bee-eater, Black-billed turaco, Black-faced warbler, Blue-headed sunbird, Cinnamon-chested bee-eater, Collared apalis Handsome francolin, Many-colored bush shrike, Mountain greenbul, Mountain-masked apalis, Purple-breasted sunbird, Regal sunbird, Rufous warbler, Shelley's crimson wing Short-tailed warbler, Western green tinker bird, Yellow-streaked greenbul.

Birding in Bwindi is good year-round, but it is more interesting in March and September. June and July have the least rain while March to mid-May has the most. Heavy rains might result in delays due to impassable roads and slippery hiking trails, which can limit your bird watching time. The main nesting season is in May and June, with food being abundant from late May through September. Migratory birds are present from November to April.
