In order to become an Accredited Tourist Guide in Mexico the Secretary of Tourism (SECTURE) requires a person to take 120 hours of Courses every year or 480 hours of courses every 4 years to obtain Official Diplomas and Credentials. Amongst the Courses taken You will find Courses on :

6. Archeology of Mexico
7. History of Art

11. Ethnography and Popular Art
12. Introduction of Gastronomy
Besides this a Guide has to have Experience in local Historical sites and Archeological zones.
