Rekawa beach located 10 km east of Tangalle is one of the prime locations for Sea Turtles who swim over the oceans into their natal beach for the sole purpose of hatching.Rekawa beach is visited by five different species throughout the year and the best time to see turtles is the period of November to April.The Deep South is also home to numerous national parks and wildlife sanctuaries.Yala National Park is famous for the elusive leopards and Uda Walawe National Parkis popular for its large herds of wild elephants.Bundala National Park is popular for its many varieties of bird soecies besides the spotting of other animals.
