High above the emerald Paro Valley, clinging dramatically to the side of a sheer cliff at 3000 meters, stands Taktsang Monastery, or more fondly known as the Tiger's Nest- the most iconic and spiritual landmark of Bhutan.

At Bhutan FRT Travel, we believe visiting Tiger's Nest is more than just a hike- it's spiritual journey that awakens every sense of emotion. Once summitting, it gives sense of fulfillment and everlasting memory.

According to ancient legend, in the 8th century Guru Padmasambhava ( Guru Rinpoche) - the revered saint who brought Buddhism to Bhutan- flew to this cliff on the back of a tigress to subdue evil spirits. He meditated there for three months, blessing the site as one of Bhutan's most sacred place.

The journey to Tiger's Nest begins just outside Paro, with a steep but rewarding trail that winds through the pine forest scanted with prayer flags and incense.

As you ascend,  you'll pass small chorten(stupas), prayers wheels and resting teahouse that offer warm tea and breathtaking front view of Tiger's Nest.  Half of your questions may arise in your mind wondering,

how it was built and its accessibility to the Temple in past.

The hike takes around 2-3 hours each way, depending on fitness level covering 9 km in total . Many visitors describe it not as a trek, but as a  journey of peace and reflection.

on reaching inside the temple ,monks chant softly, butter lamp flickers in golden light, and the air hums with centuries of prayer. we can visit several temples and meditation caves, each filled  with murals and statues Guru Rinpoche and protective deities.

No cameras are allowed inside , ensuring that the experience remains deeply personal and spiritual. Most guest leave feeling calm, humbled, most profoundly moved-as if the mountains themselves has blessed with prayers.

From the upper terraces, you can see the sweeping Paro Valley below- patches of trail you hiked up, traditional farm houses -and distance snow clad mountains peaks beyond.  The true place, where you capture Bhutan's essence of beauty and remains as forever memories  and imprints of peacefulness.
