It's hard to believe that the paradise called Phú Quốc has gone virtually unnoticed until now. For all its shimmering white beachfronts, swaying palm trees and powdery sands, this diamond-shaped drop in the Gulf of Thailand has only really just come onto the tourist radar. One thing's for sure: It's there to stay! New bamboo beach huts are popping up in the coconut groves around Long Beach on the western shore, while resorts are planned en masse for the boulder-spotted coast in the east.
