Selous Game Reserve-Tanzania

Come see the national park and game reserve of Southern Tanzania. Selous is the largest wildlife area in Africa; a UNESCO World Heritage site, this pristine uninhabited area is larger than Switzerland. It has the largest population of elephant, lion, leopard, black rhino, African hunting dog, buffalo and hippo. Mikumi is Tanzania’s fourth-largest national park. 

DAY 01

Transfer from Dar to Selous Game Reserve

  • After breakfast early in the morning, start driving to Selous Game Reserve that covers 150 km of tarmac road and 1000 km of rough road.

  • Then, you will stop for lunch on the way.

  • Later afternoon, you will go for Boat Safari which is the perfect time to view Rufiji River which flows from north to south provides the lifeblood of the Selous and sailing or rafting down the river is a superb method of seeing game, especially during the dry season which is home to crocodiles, hippo and elephants crossing the river.

  • In the evening, you will drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 02

Full day game drive in Selous Game Reserve

  • In the morning, you will have early breakfast and start your morning with the walking safari which is a perfect activity to experience the African bush in close-up for 2 hours. 

  • After the walking safari, you will go for a game drive where you will spot Tanzania’s largest population of elephant as large numbers of lion, leopard, African hunting dog, buffalo and hippo. Species commonly seen are bushbuck, red and blue duikers, eland, hartebeest, hyena, klipspringer, impala, giraffe, Oryx, reedbuck, waterbuck and zebra. 

  • In the evening, you will drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 03

Transfer from Selous Game Reserve to Mikumi National Park

  • Wake up to take your morning breakfast at 6 am and start driving to Mikumi through Mabola gate while enjoying game drive en-route and stop at Morogoro for lunch.

  • Then, you will keep driving to Mikumi Park with game drive en-route where you will spot a large population of elephants, impala, zebra and buffalos close up to the road.

  • At arrival, you will check-in at your accommodation.

  • In the evening, you will go to Maasai Village where you will spend time to experience their daily activities like milking cows and hunting skills.

  • Late evening, you will drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. 

DAY 04

Half game drive in Mikumi National Park and drive back to Dar

  • After breakfast, you will go for a half-day game drive inside Mikumi National Park. You will have every chance of spotting lions, leopards, and African wild dogs. Likely to be seen animals include zebras, hippos, hartebeest, wildebeest, impala, warthog, eland, crocodiles and antelope.

  • The lunch will be served at Tanapa Cottages and after good refreshment, you will exit the park.

  • Then, you will have a short visit at the snake park the start driving back to Dar es Salaam via Morogoro.

  • 1200 USD Per Adult , 1000 USD Per Child
