6-Day Fascinating Highlights of Peru from Cusco

Discover Peru during this six days tour by visiting some of the fascinating places this beautiful country has to offer. We start in the Cusco region, visiting the city of Cusco, its surrounding archaeological sites and the Sacred Valley of the Incas with its picturesque villages. The highlight of the tour will, of course, be the magnificent Machu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the world wrapped up in an experience you won’t forget.

  • Day 1 - City Tour Cuscoexpand_more
    • Pick up from Cusco Airport to your chosen hotel. 
    • Visit the Cathedral of Cusco, located on the Plaza de Armas. 
    • Continue to Qorikancha (Temple of the sun). This is one of the finest specimens of ancient architecture, an Inca temple. 
    • Visit the convent of Santo Domingo.
    • Move on to the rest of the archaeological sites located just outside the city of Cusco. These sites are Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo, Pukapukara, Tambomachay. 
    • Return to Cusco.
  • Day 2 - Sacred Valley of the Incasexpand_more
    • Go through the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Chinchero and join a traditional weaving workshop. This village mainly comprises mud brick (adobe) houses, and the locals still go about their businesses in traditional dress. 
    • Continue with a guided tour to the non-traditional Moray circuit, a unique archaeological group that is one of a kind. 
    • Drive to the salt mines located 7 km from Moray, pass through a typical Spanish village called Maras. 
    • Find around 2000 small wells that local people still use today to provide themselves with salt. 
    • Go to Urubamba and enjoy a great lunch.
    • Continue to Ollantaytambo and take the train to Aguas Calientes, where we spend the night in a hotel. 
    • Option 1: Spend the night in Ollantaytambo. 
    • Option 2: Spend the night in Aguas Calientes.
  • Day 3 - Machu Pichhu expand_more
    • Pick you up after breakfast and take you to the train station to board a train to Aguas Calientes. 
    • Arrive in Aguas Calientes.
    • Take a bus journey takes around 25 minutes and follows a winding slope with beautiful views. 
    • Check-in at the Machu Picchu entrance gate.
    • Experience the mysteries and magic of the sacred Incan citadel of Machu Picchu by visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sundial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of Three Windows and various cemeteries. 
    • Explore the site and return to Aguas Calientes to have lunch.
    • Go to the train station and return to your hotel in Cusco.
  • Day 4 - Cusco - Punoexpand_more
    • Eat breakfast in the hotel and take a bus to Puno.
    • Go to the Andahuaylillas at 3122 meters altitude. The church is a small structure consisting of one nave, apse and bell tower. But there’s a reason why it’s known as the Sistine Chapel of America. 
    • Continue to Raqchi “Temple of Wiracocha” (3450 meters altitude). The most important building inside the complex is the “Wiracocha temple” that, according to the old chroniclers, was built by the Inca Wiracocha to honour the Superior God invisible for the Andean people. 
    • Go to Sicuani to enjoy a buffet lunch.
    • Hike to La Raya Pass, which is the watershed between the valley that drains into Lake Titicaca and the valley that leads down to Cusco and the Sacred Valley. 
    • Go to Pukara, the first regional population centre in northern Lake Titicaca.
    • Arrive in Puno around 5:00 pm to spend the night in a hotel.
  • Day 5 - Puno, Uros and Taquile Islandexpand_more
    • Eat breakfast and transfer from your hotel.
    • Travel to one of the Uros islands by motorboat to observe people who live on floating reed islands.
    • Reach Taquile Island to tour around the ruins and visit these beautiful people, world-famous for their intricate and fascinating weavings. Eat lunch and return to Puno. 
    • Arrive in the afternoon and transfer back to the hotel. 
    • Take a bus to Cusco.
  • Day 6 - Departureexpand_more
    • Transfer to the airport.
