Inishbofin is the first Irish Island to receive an international ecotourism award. This is a magical island steeped in history and full of photo opportunities. Head off for an invigorating self-guided walk around this beautiful island, or choose one of the beaches along the coast. There is so much to see and do on Inishbofin. 

Choose from official looped walks, and two Green Coast awarded beaches, a dive center, an equestrian center, bicycle hire, and many more activities. The island is home to many species of birds. The Corncrake can be heard here every year.

    Board the ferry at the small fishing village of Cleggan and take in the spectacular land and seascapes as you set sail to this small island. 

    As you approach the harbour, you will see the remains of Cromwell's 16th-century barracks which was used as a prison for catholic priests after the English Statute of 1585 declared them guilty of high treason. 

    Walk the short distance from the ferry to the Beach Bar and indulge in some delicious homemade food and perhaps a local beer.

This self-guided package includes a return bus and ferry tickets from Galway, Cleggan to the island and a light lunch at a bar on the island.

Warm, rain and windproof gear, sunglasses, swimming trunks & towel - if the weather is good and of course your camera.

Please arrive at the bus station 15 minutes before the departure time. 

Ferry may be cancelled due to bad weather and an alternative date could be provided or a full refund offered. 

People are advised to wear a life jacket on or close to water. Children must be accompanied by their parents.
