9 Days Trekking tour itinerary for Huaraz: Take On The Complete Rapid Huayhuash Circuit
Embark on the Most wonderful trail in the INCA's state capital and contribute to the community support program in the Huaraz area, where the real people in need are investigated carefully by local governors or church. On the first day of your journey, visit a surprising area announced a day before, which involves nice spots and interesting places of touristic interests.
Acclimatizing full day tour community support
This day is reserved for acclimatization. During which, you can give some donations to the nearby villages.
Make stops to visit maybe lakes, some point of views natural touristic places, or local artisans or observe know local traditions and culture. Arriving at the right person or community. The Huaraz tour guides will make a donation in presence of contributors so they can witness the real benefits instead of making deposits in black bank accounts.
At a proper time, return to Huaraz Hotel. Arriving at 7 pm, from any place.
Huaraz – Llamac – Cuartelhuain
Pack your bags and leave Huaraz for Llamac 3350m. (5 hours).
Drive south and cross the wild paramo (puna) Conococha pass 4500m, passing the southernmost peaks of the Cordillera Blanca. The Huayhuash range, containing in a single cluster seven of the highest and most dramatic summits in Peru, reveals itself on your descent to the small town of Llamac.
Continue going-up through the Pocpa valley, and reach a peasant town, typically called Pocpa 3600. It is the last town in this valley where you can buy some soda drinks for the sunny way.
After a few hours of trekking, approx. at 1 pm, arrive in Pallca where you will have lunch.
From here, after half an hour, get to your camping site at Matacancha (4100 masl). Here, appreciate the Ninashanca Mountain (5607 masl), Rondoy (5870 masl).
Overnight camping at Cuartelhuain at (4200masl).
Direct drive from Huaraz to Cuartelhuain 5 hours approx. plus one hour for lunch - 167 km approx
Cuartelhuain – Mitucocha – Carhuacocha
Get ready with your things after breakfast and at 8 am start your trek. This is going to be a bit difficult because the climb to the pass will take you about 2 or 3 hours.
From the pass, go down and then go up (approx 30 minutes). On this route, the travellers will appreciate the Andean rabbits called Vizcachas.
Start trekking which is going to be easy. After 3 hours walking, reach the next pass. Enjoy the white peaked mountains such as Yerupaja, Jirishanca, and Siula.
Reach the campsite (approx at 5 or 6 pm). You will be surprised by a beautiful lake, keeping the mountain’s silhouettes green-hued.
Prepare the camp at a special site facing the lake.
Camped at 4150 masl
8.7 miles (18km) - 10hrs of trekking
Carhuacocha – Huayhuash
Start trekking after breakfast.
Ascend for approx one hour and you will get the nicest three different colour lakes of Siula. It is not so difficult to get the viewpoint of the Siula Lake.
Then, get to the Siula Pass at 4850 masl.
After the pass, reach a scenic place next to the Carnicero lakes.
Descend for a few kilometres to reach the campsite (4350 masl).to have lunch.

Camp at 14,355 ft (4350 m)
Huayhuash – Trapecio – Santa Rosa
Today is a long and challenging day.
Ascend to the highest pass on the trek, Trapecio Pass at 5100m/16,404ft. Head up the trail to reach the pass and enjoy the marvellous views of the surrounding high mountains.
Descend over a rocky section.
Then, hike along the valley to camp at Huanacpatay at 4300m/14,108ft.
7 – 8 hours walk
Meals: Breakfast, Snack, and Lunch, Tea Time & Dinner
Santa Rosa – Siula Cutatambo – Huayllapa
Set out at 8 am to start climbing roughly for two hours to San Antonio Pass.
From this point, behold a great view of the southwest Cordillera Huayhuash: looking at the mountains Sarapo, Siula Grande, Yerupaja, Carnicero, Los Juraos and Trapecio. You can also see the lakes of Jurao.
Descend to Jurao Lake.
Stop for lunch in Jurao Lake.
Continue to Huayllapa, a small isolated peasant village that lies at 3700 masl. Here, the small Andean shops will provide soda drinks, bears, and first house necessities.
Overnight in Huyallapa 3490m.
11.2 mi. (18 km), 7-8 hrs of trekking
Camp at 11,520 ft (3490 m)
Huayllapa – Cashpapampa
Go-up to the Tapush pass 4800masl in about 5 hours.
Walk down the easy trail for about two hours.
Arrive at the camp place late in the afternoon.
Overnight at 4417 masl 7.5 mi (12 km)
5-6 hrs of trekking
Camp at 14,578 ft (4417 m)
Cashpapampa – Jahuacocha
After breakfast, start trekking the moderate route to the Yaucha Pass (4800 masl). Stay in the pass for a couple of hours.
After rest, continue going down along the Huacrish ravine for approx three or four hours, and suddenly you will be surprised by a beautiful panoramic landscape. The Jahuacocha lake in the base of the mountains Jirishanca, Yerupaja, and Rondoy, a beautiful green colour lake that lies at 4066 masl camp place.
Enjoy the spectacular avalanches coming down from the base of the mountains Jirishanca.
Next, head to your camp.
Find a typical Mountain hut for sheepherders.
Overnight in Jahuacocha at 4050 masl
4.8 mi (7.8 km) - 4-5 hrs of trekking
Camp at 13,365 ft (4050 m)
Jahuacocha – Llamac – Huaraz
Go-up the easy walking route to the Pampallamac place where you will say goodbye to the Huayhuash Mountains.
A few meters down, have lunch.
After resting for a few minutes, go-down to Llamac town. Arrive at 1 or 2 pm approx.
Then, leave Llamac town driving down along the Llamac river until Timpoc, where the Llamac river and the Pacllon river join.
Start going-up to Chiquian along the Ainin river, arriving at Chiquian.
Walk around the village, and continue to Huaraz on a 3-hour drive.
6.21 miles (10 km), 6 hrs of trekking - 4 hours Bus
