The gateway to Namibia, the cosmopolitan city of Windhoek is surrounded by mountains. Once colonised by Germany, the strong German influence prevails with the annual Oktoberfest, beer drinking and a European café feel. Intertwined with the local population there is a vibrancy of colour, traditional dress and a variety of languages spoken.
