Visit Madagascar, a fascinating treasure-trove of biodiversity and a ‘laboratory of evolution’, much like the Galapagos but on a grander scale. And for travelling naturalists, Madagascar is a ‘must-visit’ place. Although Madagascar has long been known for birds and mammals, its reptiles, amphibians, insects and plants are unique.

  • Day 1 : Arrival expand_more
    • Pick up at Diego Airport according to the flight schedule.
    • Have lunch at Tsara Be restaurant before a transfer to the hotel of your choice.

    Half-board overnight (It will be in your charge).

  • Day 2 : Cap Diego & Ambilo expand_more
    • Cap Diego and Ambilo visit from your hotel – Lunch in town – Half-board overnight at your hotel.
    • Pick-up at your hotel at 08.00 A.M. to Cape Diego from the Allamanda hotel. Ideally placed in parallel with Diego Suarez's city, the access to this peninsula makes you enjoy a crossing of 1 hour in a traditional boat with sail and motor. You will begin the visit (by boat) by discovering the second largest port on the island. Then discover the company SECREN and its basin of Radoub reputed for the repair and the shipbuilding in the Indian Ocean.
    • Discover the marine baobabs Andasonia Suarensins aboard the dhow and left you embarked by a hike loaded with history through these locations of French military base installations in times of colonisation, from the military aerodrome to the cave marked by the presence of these soldiers who wanted them to be remembered. Not far from the camp, a cemetery testifies to the presence of a mixed colonial army and a bloody confrontation between the French and the English in 1942.
    • After the visit, you will have lunch in the town before doing the Ambilo visit.
    • Take a break and then catch the same boat to reach the point of your departure, and you will continue to visit Ambilo and its baobabs. At the end of the visit, transfer to your hotel for a half-board overnight.
  • Day 3 : Three Bays Visit expand_more
    • From your hotel – Three bays visit – Lunch at Ramena – Half-board overnight at your hotel. Pick up at your hotel at 08.00 A.M. for visiting the Three Bays.
    • Along the coast road, discover the region's endemic baobabs and the Massif of “Montagne des Français”. Take a coastal path and meet the oldest baobab in the area.
    • Each more beautiful than the next, these quiet bays of white sand unwind along a turquoise sea rich in fishes and corals. Take a walk along the Sakalava Bay (a great spot for windsurfers, kite surfers and fun boarders), the inaccessible Pigeons’ Bay, and dive in the refreshing Dunes’ Bay.
    • Go on to the Cap Mine, where a fantastic view of the Bay of Diego awaits you. Through the old military camp of Orangea, drive a bit further to stop in Ramena, a traditional fishing village. Will you resist the temptation of the last swim in Ramena?
    • Have lunch at Jojo’s in Ramena. At the end of the visit, come back to your hotel.
  • Day 4 : Emerald Sea expand_more

    Emerald Sea – Picnic lunch – Ramena’s village visit – Go back for a half-board overnight at your hotel.

    • On your way along the coast to the fishing village of Ramena, take a look at the Sugar Bread, the baobabs (endemic to the region), and the massif of the French Mountain. 
    • At your arrival in Ramena, get on board and sail to the Emerald Sea, located right outside the Bay of Diego.
    • Enjoy the shallow turquoise water and snorkel in a natural aquarium-like lagoon where fishes of all shapes and sizes play in the colourful corals. On the way, learn about their traditional way of life.
    • At noon lunch will be served on the spot, you will enjoy a famous northern dish rice coconut with grilled fish (fish that you fished the same day), vegetables accommodated with Malagasy, grilled bananas. At the end of the tour, back to Diego, transfer to your hotel.
  • Day 5 : Cap Diego City tour expand_more
    • Pick up at your hotel after your breakfast for the city tour.
    • Discover the remarkable architecture of this town known for its glorious past. Visit the bay of Diego and the Sugar Mountain, the French and British cemeteries, the Bazary Kely (the market), the churches, the Hôpital Be, the Foch Square, the Marina Hotel, the Jacob Mosque, the Joffre square from which you can get a nice view of Cap Diego, the old town of Diego and the harbour.
    • You will have lunch in the town, at Tsara Be restaurant. At the end of the visit, go back to the Grand Hotel for a half-board overnight.
  • Day 6 : Amber Mountain visit – Lunch at Henriette’s – Half-board overnight at Nature Lodge expand_more
    • Pick up at your hotel at 08.00 A.M. On the way to discovering the First National Park of Madagascar the "Mountain of Amber". Created in 1958, this park is located in the heart of a volcanic region. Rightly regarded as a "biological treasure", it is home to a magnificent protected rainforest, preserved from all human impact, where rich and complex nature thrives. 
    • Explore the botanical trail and enjoy various forms of vegetation (canarium, ficus, orchids. Meet different chameleons species, the smallest in the world, the Brokesia Minima Tuberculata, and the lemurs (crowned, fulvus), a place where the real water tower for the region is located. Discover the various waterfalls such as the Antomboka waterfall, the sacred waterfall and the others. Lunch is waiting for you at Henriette's.

    At the end of the visit, transfer to your hotel, which is Nature Lodge.

  • Day 7 : Red Tsingy visit – Lunch at Violette’s – Transfer to Ankarana – Half-board overnight at Ankarana Lodge. expand_more
    • Pick up your hotel at 08.00 A.M and take the road that takes you to the village of Sahafary where a surprising site awaits you "red Tsingy" (count 1h45 of the road). They are erosion in the chimney of the fairies. These red, ephemeral and phantasmagoric formations are the result of the whims of wind and rain. They can form a relatively short geological time.
    • After 1h30 of visit, lunch at Violette awaits you. At the end of the tour, transfer to Akarana Lodge.
  • Day 8 : Eastern Ankarana Park visit – Lunch at Aurélien’s – Half-board overnight at Ankarana Lodge. expand_more
    • The Ankarana National Park EST is a massif of sharp limestone peaks with canyons hosting various animal and plant biological species endemic to Madagascar.
    • In this eastern part of the park, you will hike in the "Benavony" circuit for about 3h30mn, where you will discover its legendary suspension bridge, through the dry and arid forest, you will meet the Pachypoduim, lemurs Coronatus, baobabs. You will then pass on a canyon that offers a view of all the Ankarana East. At the end of the visit, lunch at Aurélien’s. Go Back to Ankarana Lodge.
  • Day 9 : Millot plantation visit with Lunch – Transfer to Ankify harbor – Sea crossing to Nosy be – Transfer to your hotel and half-board overnight. expand_more
    • After a sumptuous breakfast at 07.00 A.M. Transfer to Millot Plantation for 3 hours visit, take charge of your hotel.
    • Plantation Millot has located 10 km from Ambanja along the road Ankify or a 5:30 drive from Diego-Suarez. It belongs to the Millot family. You will follow the Sambirano river whose excesses and overflows enrich the earth so that not only this exceptional cocoa but also the essences of flowers that come to compose your Perfumes will flourish. Arrival at the Plantation; visit the cocoa farm of Anjavibe; preparation of cocoa, peppers and pink berries (depending on the season). Then, crossed the plot of spices (Combava, four spices) and fields of Ylang Ylang with picking flowers; visit the Distillery, boilers and the composts preparation area; crossing lots of Cocoa and parcels of Vetiver, Ravintsara, Roses.
    • Return on the Plantation, meal in the house of the Planter (Chez Mado).
    • At the end of the visit, transfer to Ankify harbour when a private boat is already waiting for you for 45 minutes of the sea crossing.

    • Departure from your hotel at 08.00 A.M. to visit the typical alleys of Hell-Ville, where the old colonial mansions are hidden among the more recent buildings, with the market abundant in local products and Malagasy crafts; from the Sacred Tree of Mahatsinjo to the Ylang-ylang distilleries that have made Nosy famous; Mont Passot the Stunning views on the island, this tour offers a cultural and natural history around the island to perfumes.

    10 km of tarmac road + 45 minutes of rowing dugout/day

    • Visit this tropical forest hidden in the island's heart, which offers you a unique encounter with endemic flora and fauna. 
    • To reach it, first experience the sailing onboard a traditional canoe.

    Nosy Komba + Nosy Tanikely

    10 nautical miles from Hell Ville + 1-hour motorboat/day

    • Nosy Komba, the "Lemur Island" is covered with a dense forest where the lemur's Macaco red and black roam freely. Stroll in the small fishing village and discover the local craft products: the island is famous for its lace and Richelieu carvings.
    • Continue to visit Nosy Tanikely, picnic lunch on site. Discover the marine reserve of Nosy Tanikely: the "island of the small earth." 
    • Enjoy this natural aquarium to introduce you to snorkel. During a memorable aquatic ride, you thrive in the company of rays, barracudas and other colourful fish.
    • At 05.00 P.M., return to your hotel.

  • Day 13 : Nosy Sakatia expand_more
    • Departure at 09.00 A.M. from your hotel, transfer by car to Chanty Beach. Boarding for 30 minutes sailing to Sakatia, the Orchid Island, a small island paradise and beaches with turquoise waters and crystal. 
    • Walk to contemplate fruit trees, medicinal plants, the many endemic bird species and chameleons. In the afternoon, enjoy the charm and softness of the island's private beach—relaxation and discovery of the seabed. 
    • Picnic lunch on-site and return to your hotel around 03.30 P.M.
  • Day 14 : Nosy Iranja expand_more

    1h30 by boat from Hell city / full day

    • Departure from your hotel at 08.00 A.M., transfer to the port and then embark on Nosy Iranja, the turtle island. Two small islands combined at low tide by a thin ribbon of white sand form Nosy Iranja turquoise sea. Buffet lunch on site. 
    • A unique experience: swimming with turtles! On the way back, the Big Island's pristine beaches, the Sugar Loaf, the wild and authentic island of Nosy Antsoha and lemurs let themselves enjoy. 
    • Get to your hotel around 05.00 P.M.
