Day 01
Cappadocia Valleys, Cavusin Castle and Kaymakli Underground City
- Hike through the most picturesque countryside and valleys of Cappadocia. Escape the crowds, enter nature, experience the essence of the place, discover cave churches, pigeon houses, and naturally occurring tunnels carved by flowing water, and stroll through the villagers' grape gardens filled with fruit and nut trees.
- Cavusin Castle is a magnificent rock citadel that previously served as the village's main residence. Although it was a relatively safe location, the inhabitants had to carry water to their homes each day. Saint John the Baptist Church is still worth seeking out, even though it is in disrepair, as the community once had a sizeable Christian population. You can also ascend the castle by taking a winding road and passing a few more recent residences. On the other side, as you descend, there are some magnificent examples of fairy chimneys.
- Known for its unusually shaped rocks, Love Valley is a breathtaking sight. As you glance down into the valley below, you begin to wonder how exactly these rocks were formed, how many years it took to create these shapes, and how long they can remain.
- From the Pigeon Valley viewpoint, you can see the dovecotes carved into the rocks, Mount Erciyes covered in snow and growing more prominent in the distance, as well as Uchisar Castle and a breathtaking panorama of old, abandoned fairy chimney cave homes and old Greek mansions.
- The last stop on the tour is one of the most incredible natural wonders in the world, Kaymakli Underground City. Although all towns and villages in Cappadocia once had safe and secure secret rooms dug out of the soft tufa rock, the underground cities of Kaymakli and Derinkuyu are fundamentally distinct from one another in their size, scale, and signs of underground city planning.
