Stroll through the charming streets of Cadiz expand_more
- The tour will start at city hall square, where you will learn about the mythological foundation of Cadiz by Hercules and her importance as Harbour City.
- Move through Populo Gate to the Populo Quarter, the oldest in town, where you'll discover the evolution of Cadiz through 3000 years and where the Roman theatre can be seen (depending on opening times).
- The next step will be through Cathedral Square, where the last of the Spanish cathedrals can be admired (exterior visit), and walk to the main market place where we can take a look at the fish section (depending on opening time)
- Then, behold the Tavira Tower, which is the highest point in the city and serves as a good watchtower and viewpoint. (external visit)
- We will then walk by the Oratorio San Felipe Neri, the birthplace of Spanish democracy and admire the splendid Baroque architecture of the building. Here, the guide will tell you about the Constitution of 1812 and how it has shaped the very being of the city. Together, we will find some secret places in the city known only to locals.
- Finally, we will make our way to the Manuel Falla Theatre, where the beloved month-long Carnival of Cadiz takes place every February.
- The tour will finish at Caleta beach, the only beach in the Old Town and locals' little private paradise, defended by two XVIII century fortresses.
