One of the oldest trading centres of Iran, the arabesque arcades of the great Kerman bazaar are a place that have melded the people of east and west for centuries. Its sellers here are both Persian and Baloch, touting everything from jangling golden trinkets to geometric carpets with jostling frills over crisscrossing alleys. Out from this busy area, the streets reveal the Ganjali Khan complex comprising the ceramic-fronted arches of its eponymous bath, wide squares bearing the moniker of Ganjali Khan, and a beautiful mosque that fuse the Mughal with the Iranian in a seamless display of majestic architecture. While there are many more such beautiful structures such as the Jame Mosque and the Moshtagiye dome to visit, Kerman tour guides will also want to showcase the wealth of historic places that lurk nearby. See the sparkling cobalt domes of Mahan, get lost in the warren of adobe streets around the castle turrets of Rayen, and marvel at the unique natural phenomena defined by the deserts here, the Kaluts.
