We spent an unforgettably wonderful day with Joseph Micallef in his native Gozo in May 2023. We emailed our wish list and limitations (my bad knee) to Joseph in the weeks before and communication was always polite and prompt. Due to high winds the fast ferry from Valletta was cancelled on our tour day, but Joseph acted quickly to get us on the car ferry at the other end of the island instead so we could still do the tour.  As this was the only at we were free, we were very grateful for his flexibility and quick thinking.

The acual tour was comprehensive and superb! Joseph is very knowledgeable about history and culture, has fluent English and a genuinely nice person as well. We are quiet people but never felt awkward around Joseph! A few highlights of the day were the Ggantija ruins, Salt Pans, Dwejara including a beautiful and exciting boat ride, and lunch at a local restaurant. Joseph even emailed us a list of the places we had visited afterward, a first for any tour guide we've had and much appreciated. The tour included private drivers, and pricing was very reasonable for all we got.

In summary, we highly recommend touring with Joseph in Malta. He books up early so reach out to him as soon as you know your dates.

We recently toured Gozo with Joseph. 

We had discussed our desires for the trip with Joseph by email for a couple of weeks to customise the experience that we wanted structured around Ggantija. Many of the tours of Gozo are long. We wanted something more focused. So we basically visited the ruined temple and had seafood lunch at the Stone Crab.

Joseph arranged for a transfer from our hotel in Sliema to Gozo and back.

The weather was great. The experience unforgettable. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Great value for money.

Joseph is a marvellous communicator.  He gives you a structured approach to the site of Ggantija using the museum as an entry point for focusing your attention on salient detail, that make the actual experience of the archaeological site more meaningful.  Joseph is very accommodating and attentive to his tour group and what suits them best.

We spent a fabulous day in Malta with Joseph!!  Everything about our experience with Joseph was exceptional!  He was a timely and excellent communicator. He spent a lot of time with me on email before the trip, so we were able to put together a full day tour that satisfied all the whims and wishes of our group of 8. Joseph’s English is fabulous - clear, concise and never rehearsed (or canned). He is very knowledgeable about everything having to do with Malta, he was engaging, and it was obvious that he’s passionate about his work. We would highly recommend Joseph to anyone visiting Malta!!
