Like having a family member with you on your tour

Reviewed August 7, 2023

My wife and I wanted to take the hike up to Pulpit Rock during our visit to Western Norway a few weeks ago.  We wanted to have someone guide us up to the top so we would enjoy the full experience and not make mistakes (going too fast, too slow, safety, etc).

We connected with Katharina and she was very engaging even before we arrived in country.  She provided excellent and detailed information that helped us get prepared (and excited) about this trip.  She was flexible with our starting time in order to get the best weather conditions and minimjum crowd conditions on that day.  She met us at a convenient location next to Stavanger and drove us to the site.  She was a warm and enthusiastic guide who shared all sorts of information about the area along the way.  Once at the site, she paced us on our journey, stopping strategically along the way for sightseeing and a bot of revovery.  Katharina packed a rather large backpack that and carried it all the way up to the top where we were delighted with delicious hot tea, local cheeses, fruits and snacks.  To say she went the "extra mile" is an understatement.

Making it to the top of this wonderful landmark was an accomplishment for us and we would not have enjoyed it nearly as much without Katharina by our side.  The trip down was equally important to have a guide helpus along trickier points especially given the fact that the rocks and ground were wet from previous rains.

We cannot recommend Katharina highly enough for this trip (or frankly any adventure).  She clearly loves her countryu and environment and that bubbled over to us as well!

Flexible and fun day in Stavanger

Reviewed January 26, 2020

On a cruise stopover in Stavanger, we took a private tour with Katharina (rather than a big group thing offered by the ship) and are thrilled that we did. She was sweet, knowlegable, and flexible, spending more time on things where we showed interest and less in other areas. It was obvious that she did not just have a set itinerary that she went through for all guests. She compared living in Norway with other countries, and explained why she loved Norway. I left with the feeling that I made a friend rather than just met a guide.

Trip to view Great Great Grandparents Home Site

Reviewed October 13, 2019

My wife and I, as part of our 50th wedding anniversary, decided to explore my Norwegian heritage.  Fortuantely we were able to link up with Katharina who guided us successfully from Haugesund to the island of Randoy and to my great-great grandparents homesite where the original home still stands.  Katharina took it upon herself to somehow find the owner of the farm (I could only provide the name of the farm), set up an appointment for our visit, and accomplish a most rewarding tour experience.  She is very knowledgeable and personable; I don't think there was ever a lag in our conversation.  We would recommend your considering Katharina for your touring needs.
