After finding AllNepalHiking through an internet search I contacted Shankar and arranged a tailored 3 day trek for myself as I had limited time in Nepal. Shankar agreed with me: 1) a fixed price 2) that he would be the tour guide 3) stay in his families homestay However with one week to the trek this all changed without giving me time to cross check and/or re-arrange: 1) the tour guide changed to his cousin who was an older man which I did not want as a solo female traveller - his English was also poor. 2) the homestay turned out not to be a homestay butsharing with his cousin in her bedroom!! 3) the trek shortened to two days 4) and the price (with was extremely overpriced I later found out, stayed the same without negotiation) Once arriving in Kathmandu I went straight to a street side trek agency and agreed the same hike (with an excellent trek guide) for 1/3rd of the cost 180 US dollars - Shankar was changing me 415 US Dollars. Do not book with this trek guide, he will rip you off and let you down...i suggest finding a company once you are in Kathmandu.

A great guy with good English, loads of knowledge and legitimate. I gave been on 3 treks with Shankar and have recommended him to many friends and family, all of whom sing his praises.

We were very thankful to have found Shankar Neupane. He was our guide on a cultural trek around Baseri. Through him we learned about the everyday life in Nepal and had contact with local People. He made us feel very comfortable and welcome. And he was a great Company to be with while on the trek... Funny, outgoing, open-minded, helpful. We really trust him and this is - in our opinion - the most important reason to pick a guide. If I return to Nepal I would not think twice and choose him again.
