I almost always find my own way around a new city and explore solo. But with my limited time in Chisinau, and took the suggestion from my hosts at the Florence Hotel (also highly recommended) and booked a half day tour with Valery, and enjoyed every minute. He is punctual, energetic and incredibly passionate about Moldova and its history, and explains it brilliantly. His English is better than mine, and wants nothing more than to help the traveler learn as much as they can about this small, little-known country. As an added bonus, his knowledge of classical and modern music is unmatched, and if Moldova wasn't so interesting, we could have spent hours discussing everything from Mussorgsky to the Beatles. Don't hesitate: just book Valery!

Had 2 great tours with Valery. One in Chisinau and one in Transnistria. Valery was very friendly and knowledgeable, answering all my questions including those more general questions about life in Moldova. He has a car which was necessary for Transnistria and useful for Chisinau, particularly if you're short on time as you can fit more in. I enjoyed Valery's company for the two days we were together and I feel like I learnt lots! Thank you
