It's over a year since my trip from West Bengal to Bhutan, arriving at the border by road. For the next two weeks my guide Rinzin and driver Khuenzhang were excellent hosts. A highlight of the journey was staying in the Phobjika Valley after a power blackout. A Chinese group cancelled their booking, so we enjoyed the luxury and company of one other traveller and her guide. There was a full moon to enhance the candlelit dinner. A hot water bottle and stove in my room made for a very comfortable stay. During the day we walked around the valley. At each location of our trip, we went together to temples. At the dzhong where we attended a festival, Rinzin procured traditional dress, so that I fully enjoyed meeting the lhama and district governor to watch the festival. A great trip with an excellent driver and guide.
