Gjenc was an excellent, friendly and knowledgable guide, speaking very good English.

He took us on 2 full day trips, firstly to Apollonia archaelogical site and then the city of Berat, where we visited the Castle, in which we enjoyed a lovely mixed dish lunch, then a visit to a local mosque, before returning us to our hotel in Tirana. He provided comprehensive information about all these places,

On our 2nd trip, he took us to Durres to show us the Roman ampitheatre, the port, the view from the coffee shop in the highest building and the pleasant promenade, explaining the history of the city as he did so.

This was followed by lunch in an authentic Albanian restaurant, close to Kruja Castle, with amazing panoramic views across the landscape towards Tirana in the far distance. We then went to the magnificent Bazaar outside the castle, reminiscent of the one in Mostar in Bosnia Herzogovenia followed by a visit to the castle itself.

Our safety was always paramount to him and we appreciated his thoughtfulness. We covered many miles during our trips, sometimes through the unusual Albanian road users! and at no time did we feel in any danger as he is a very safe and concientious driver.

We would have no hesitation in using Gjenc as our guide for any future trips and would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to get the most out of a short trip to Albania with safety and good knowledge of the country and its history.
