Description
Mt Kenya is the highest peak in Kenya and the second-highest in Africa. Out of the three main routes, follow the Sirimon route, the most-used by Mount Kenya climbers. Pass through the impressive Yellow Wood Forests in the lower reaches, and be in the midst of abundant wildlife and beautiful alpine vistas as you go higher up. We shall reach the Austrian Hut and Point Lenana from Mackinder's Valley's head, via Simba Col.

Day 1: Nairobi - Chogoria expand_more
Transfer from Nairobi to Chogoria to our base hotel.
Rest and acclimatize for the remainder of the day.

Day 2: Reach Mount Kenya expand_more
Transfer to park gate.
Dinner and overnight at the gate.

Day 3: Hike to Minto's Hut expand_more
Ascend to Minto's hut at 4300m, situated on a plateau overlooking Lake Michaelson 300m below. There are spectacular views of the summits from here.

Day 4: Hike to Austrian Hut expand_more
The trail continues to Austrian hut via Tooth Col, which is situated between several rock towers.
Overnight stay at Austrian hut.

Day 5: Hike to the Summit expand_more
An early morning attempt to climb the summit of Point Lenana, which is only about one hour from Austrian hut.
We will descend to Chogoria park gate for the night.

Day 6: Walk to Chogoria Exit expand_more
An early morning, 15 km walk through the rain forests and bamboo zones to our vehicle for transfer to Nairobi.
