Peaceful, scenic and welcoming is how most people would describe Guilin, China. A picturesque city located in the North Guangxi province of China, Guilin is considered a dream destination within China and beyond and has been an inspiration to various artists and poets throughout Chinese history.
Most of the attractions in Guilin exist thanks to Mother Nature and every Guilin travel guide will be packed with suggestions for outdoor exploration. Pagoda Hill and Tunnel Hill combine to create a mountain range and recreational park, Black Hill Botanic Garden is one of the oldest botanical gardens in China and the Xiongsen Bear and Tiger Mountain Village offer the chance to see bears, tigers, lions and other wild animals up close and personal.
The Lijang, or simply Li, river flows through Guilin and hosts daily river cruises which take you from Guilin to Yangshuo, past lush green farmland and hundreds of mist-covered hills. Caves such as the Red Flute Cave also offer sightseeing tours where you can walk amongst the otherworldly rock formations normally hidden beneath your feet.
