  • Day 1- Paro - Thimphu expand_more
    • Transfer to the airport today for your flight to Paro. Your experience of this enchanting Kingdom begins with a flight over the Himalayas into the Paro valley – truly one of life’s most spectacular sights. You will view the world’s highest, the most majestic peaks and enjoy the view of the approaching valley with its pre-medieval alpine forests, monasteries, temples and farmhouses nestled in splendid mountain isolation.

    • Get your Bhutan Visa stamped on your passport on arrival. After clearing customs & immigration formalities, your Bhutanese escort will greet you on arrival. 

    • Drive through the valley of Paro, departing for Thimphu, an hour drive from the main valley and passing by paddy fields, apple orchards, farmhouses and paddy stacks. Thimphu is the capital of the Kingdom. One of the charms of this unique capital is Bhutan’s version of the colonial traffic policemen, who will fascinate you with their elaborate hand gestures.

  • Day 2- Thimphu expand_more
    • Drive to the Mini Zoo. This Zoo houses the National Animal of Bhutan – the “Takin". It’s worthwhile taking the time to see these strange, unique animals.

    • Later in the day, visit the Tashi Chhoe Dzong. This Dzong (fortress) was built in 1216 and houses the Throne room and offices of the King and the Ministers. The northern portion is the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot) and the Central Monk Body.

    • See the Buddha point, where one of the largest sitting Buddhas on the hill was built for the well being of the country, and its neighbouring nation.

    Overnight stay at a hotel in Thimphu. *Elevation of Thimphu valley: 2350 m.

  • Day 3- Punakha expand_more
    • After breakfast, leave Thimphu and begin your journey east to Punakha. The journey takes you through windy mountain roads with spectacular alpine scenery.

    • Drive over the Dochu La Pass at 3,050 m, where on a clear day, you can see stunning views of the Northern Himalayan Ranges.

    • Stop at this pass to visit the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens (stupa) built at the center of the pass.

  • Day 4- Punakha - Paro expand_more
    • Return back to Paro and visit the Kichu Lhakhang - the oldest temple in Bhutan (7th century).

    • Visit the main museum and Paro Fort.

  • Day 5- Paro expand_more
    • Get a glance of the north of the Paro valley at the base of a hill.

    • Then continue with a hike to the famous Taktsang monastery (3,100 m). Taktsang literally means –“Tiger’s nest”. This monastery was built in the 1600s and clings to a sheer rock cliff that plunges 900 m above the valley.

    • Enjoy the stunning views of the sacred mountain Jomolhari Mountain which is at 7,314 m altitude.
