The Valley of Flowers is located above 3000 metres above sea level amlong rugged mountain terrain in Chamoli district of Uttarkhand. It has an amazing diversity of flowers - more than 550 species and rare and endangered animals such as Asiatic black bear,musk deer,red fox,brown bear and blue sheep. Among birds Himalayan monal pheasant finds a place of pride. The valley was declared a national park in 1992 and is now also on UNESCO World Heritage Sites List. The valley lies in the transition zone between the mighty Zansakar of Ladhak and the Greater Himalayas. For those keen on trekking probably few places on Earth hold such romance.
