3 Days Hunting tour itinerary for Cape Town: Karoo Safari Just For Men
This tour is the most macho around. It is for small groups of 4-6 men who wish to experience the desert and the human bonding of a hunt.
We depart Cape Town and travel via Wellington and the Bain's Distillery, Bain's Kloof Pass and Worcester to the Hunting Reserve near the town of Touwsrivier. Be assured the 4000 hectare property is in the middle of nowhere.
We barbeque, drink and share stories in the company of an Angolan War Veteran. Stargazing is stunning as there is no city glare.
Travel to the Reserve
We depart Cape Town for Wellington and the renowned Bain's Whiskey Distillary.
A few drinks there and then over the stunning Bain's Kloof Pass and on to the wineries in Worcester district.
We enter the Karoo Desert Plateau via the Hex Rivier Pass and proceed via a miserable gravel road and dirt track to the Lodge.
Here we have a drink, barbeque and discuss the next day's events.
Markmanship, Game Drive and Hunting
Guests are taught basic markmanship on heavy bore hunting rifles. Guests are welcome to bring their own rifles and handguns. We do a drive of the 4000 hectare hunting reserve (optional bagging of a sprinbok or other antelope). We visit some Bushman paintings and generally have a good time. There are TV's and satellite TV so if you need to watch a Sprinbok match we may do it.
