8 Hours Jeep Safari tour itinerary for Cape Town & Langebaan: Game Drive & Wine Extravaganza On The West Coast
Cape Town, Langebaan
Hop on board the game vehicle to take in the splendour of a 2000ha game camp where you will be able to spot various game species. This drive is spectacular during Aug/Sep wild flower season & will include a visit to the vineyards. Enjoy a cellar tour, extensive wine tasting & a pre-arranged picnic platter under historic trees.
The tour starts with an early morning pick up (after breakfast) from your hotel or specified accommodation. Transfer time from Cape Town will be approximately 1 hour.
The road finds its way through Milnerton, past the Milnerton Lagoon and Rietvlei Nature area and continues through Table View towards Blouberg.
We will travel along the R27, which is the famous West Coast road.
At the Darling Hills road we will turn right onto a gravel road (approximately 10km) to arrive at the Groote Post Cellar where winemaking traditions have been revived in the restored V.O.C. fort. The winery is situated in a lovely green valley threaded by the Klawer River, a stream, really with Kikuyu lawns bordering on the werf, all watched over by the beautifully restored Cape Dutch Klawer Valley homestead and the imposing slave bell.
Upon arrival, we will first make our way to the restrooms to freshen up and stretch our legs.
From there we will depart on a guided game drive showcasing a number of antelope such as Eland, Kudu, Gemsbok, Bontebok, Springbok, Red Hartebeest, Ostrich, Black Wildebeest as well as the Quagga breeding program. The drive will continue up to the vineyards to see where next year's harvest is in the making.
On arrival back to the winery, guests may want to participate in a cellar tour and extensive wine tasting.
In addition to its excellent wines, farms drives and nature walks, lunch may be enjoyed at the restaurant (in the case of adverse weather conditions) which is located in the restored manor house or alternatively luxury picnics will be served under historic trees on the werf.
The farm also forms part of the famous West Coast Spring Flower Route and is an absolute must to enjoy during the months of August to September each year.
Transfer time back to Cape Town will take approximately 1 hour.
Guided game drive includes game viewing and is focussed on eco-tourism and in particular conservation of the highly threatened Renosterveld, vineyards and farming operations on a historic West Coast wine farm.
