Kidepo Valley National Park-Uganda

Venture to 3 amazing National parks- one being a Savanna park known for its Antelope and Zebra herds (Lake Mburo) and Bwindi being a tropical rain forest park famous for Mountain Gorillas and lastly Kidepo for its exclusive undiscovered wildlife and Karamajong pastoralists.

DAY 01

Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park

  • On your arrival at Entebbe international airport (EBB), you will be met by a Dav safaris staff that will brief you and you later embark on an exciting road trip to Kabale. This is a long day drive of approximately 7 hours with a lunch stopover en route. Though long, the drive takes you through different features to include tropical rain forests, savannah fields, and the terraced hills of Kigezi, famously known as the Switzerland of East Africa. 

  • Arrival is in the late evening for relaxation as you wait for the next day’s adventure with dinner and overnight

DAY 02

Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable forest-Transfer to Lake Mburo National park

  • After breakfast and briefing by park ranger guides, depart with picnic lunch boxes to start the trekking – the activity can last up to 4 hours trek or more to find the Mountain gorillas as you hike up and down slippery slopes with dense mist covered vegetation. Hence, you will have packed lunch for this activity. This active quest will eventually bring you to the face of one of the most sought after creatures-the mountain gorillas. Upon reaching them, you will have a full hour with them while observing and learning their behavior as you take photos

DAY 03

Morning game drive and transfer to Kampala

  • After having an early breakfast, go for a morning game drive in Lake Mburo National Park. This park is famous for Zebras, Impalas, Giraffes, Elands, Cape Buffalos, and many tropical bird species. 

  • Checkout of the hotel and transfer to Kampala with lunch en-route, as you say farewell to the western region of Uganda with the above adventures but along the way, you will make a stopover at the Equator line to have an authentic feel of standing at Latitude 00.

DAY 04

Transfer to Kitgum via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

  • Early morning, the driver will pick you from your hotel and brief you before heading out to Kitgum which is in the northern part of Uganda. Along the way, you will make a stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola where rhinos are being reintroduced to the wild in Uganda so that you have a complete feel of the African Big five mammals as it is the Rhinos, out of the big five that re missing in Kidepo and Murchison Falls National park. Here, you will go for a trek around the sanctuary on foot. You will have lunch at the sanctuary and some relaxation for an indefinitely short time and embark on an exciting road trip to Kitgum, arriving at the lodge in the evening for relaxation and dinner.

DAY 05

Transfer to Kidepo valley National Park-Wildlife viewing

  • After breakfast, drive northwards through Kitgum in a landscape of vast plains and semi-arid savannah framed by jagged mountains and wooded hills, Kidepo is one of the wildest and most spectacular reserves in Africa. The landscape throughout the park is studded with small hills, rocky outcrops, and inselbergs from which one can obtain stunning views in all directions enjoy panoramic views of the Narus River Valley and photographic opportunities of wildlife from all corners. 

  • Enjoy an afternoon game drive along the Narus River Valley for game viewing and photography of Elephants, herds of Buffaloes, Jackals, Jackson's Hartebeest, Klipspringer, and possibly Lions.

DAY 06

Kidepo National Park morning game drive and Mout Morungole hiking and meeting the IK karamajong people

  • After an early breakfast, go for a morning game drive and explore Kidepo’s exclusives including buffalo and elephant herds. A variety of animals can be seen roaming around including Ostrich and if lucky, the Cheetah.

  • In the afternoon, have a cultural experience and a hike to the Morungole ranges that will bring you into contact with Karamojong peoples. Meet the local elders and have an opportunity to interact with them. The Ik are one of Africa’s most remote and interesting tribes, living on top of Mount Morungole in Northern Kidepo. A visit to them is one of the most authentic experiences that one will ever have in Africa, largely because they are so untouched by the Western world as they are quite inaccessible.

DAY 07

Kidepo game drive-Transfer to Gulu

  • After breakfast, have a morning game drive to search for Kidepo’s exclusive wildlife such as Ostriches, hartebeest, Roan antelopes, and many woodland birds. Have lunch and relax by the lodge. 

  • Later, travel through the remotest zones of Uganda, seeing the villages and grass thatched houses passing by the window. View the wild, domestic and Cultural richness of this pearl of Africa, and experience quality vegetation. Spend the night in the town of Gulu.

DAY 08

Transfer to Entebbe international airport

  • After having breakfast at your pace, check out of the hotel and embark on an exciting road trip back to Kampala, with lunch en route. You will arrive in Kampala late afternoon, hence, you can be transferred to Entebbe International Airport to readily catch your flight back home as you say farewell to the pearl of Africa (Depending on your schedule, as you may prefer to be dropped in Kampala)
