Description

Today, Dubai is known for its high-rise towers, man-made wonders, and luxury lifestyle. This city has a rich history dating back centuries; Bronze Age nomadic groups established date plantations in the region by 2500 BC. The area we now know as Jumeriah served as a caravan station along the Persian trade routes (in today's Oman and Iraq) as early as the 5th Century.

In 1580, Venetian pearl merchant Gaspero Balbi recorded the area's pearl trade in his journals. Between 1833 and 1893, Maktoum bin Butti settled near Dubai Creek in Shindagah Region. This allowed the town to grow independently without being dependent on Abu Dhabi. Dubai began as a small fishing village and became a trade stop because of the quality of the pearls traded here. This region's development was sparked by the discovery of oil during the 1960s.

Like the other ancient cities, Dubai's face has changed dramatically, so it is difficult to remember how it was in those early days. With its sky-high buildings and development, it is difficult for tourists to gain a better understanding of the city's rich history and heritage. The Private Heritage City Tour Bastakiya will transport you back to the good old days of old Dubai. Discover Dubai's rich history and heritage on this five-hour private city tour.

Itinerary
  • Experience original residential communities, forts, boats, souks, and pearls during our Heritage Dubai City Tour.
    • Meet our professional guide in your hotel in the morning by 09.00 am.
    • During the first part of the city tour, we will visit the Al Fahidi Historical District, commonly known as Al Bastakiya, which contains recollections of times that predate the Seven Emirates' alliance. The first stop of this tour will be the Al Fahidi fort and its nearby area. This Bastakiya quarter is the oldest residential area in Dubai. Walking through the ochre-colored buildings in the Bastakiya quarter will let you see corals, mud, gypsum, and palm wood. Another notable feature of the building is the towers adorning the houses. In the Middle East, wind towers are the traditional form of air conditioning. Take some good pictures as you explore the alleyways.
    • Our next stop will be SMCCU- Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding. Learn about Dubai's traditions and heritage while enjoying a traditional Arabic lunch at the center. The team members are happy to answer cultural and religious questions. They operate with an open-door and open-mind policy.
    • Experience an hour-long dhow cruise along Dubai Creek. The Old Dubai was built around the creek, which can still be seen today. Old buildings and souks (markets) tell the tale of the good old days when Dubai was an important trading post. In the early days, fishermen and merchants traveled the water using wooden Dow's in their abra-water taxis.
    • Then, you will be taken to Al Seef, the heritage district of Dubai, located on the banks of Dubai Creek. This district recreates the traditional trade hub and celebrates Dubai Creek's origins as a pearling pit.
    • After the visit to Al Seef, your private heritage tour of Dubai will end, and you will be transferred back to your hotel in Dubai.
