Description

Langtang Valley Trek is the nearest trekking route from Kathmandu. Thus, a large number of trekkers head to explore this region. The Tibetan and Tamang culture with the backdrop of Langtang range make up exciting trekking trails. The flora and fauna in the Langtang National Park are quite surreal as well. All in all, the trek is a glorious trip into Langtang Valley– the Valley of Glaciers.

The 10-day trip starts at Kathmandu from where you drive to Syabrubesi. Then you enter the Langtang National Park and head to Lama Hotel. The trek heads north and reaches Ghodatabela means the horse stable. Then, you follow the trail to Langtang village and settle at Kyanjin Gompa.

The Langtang Valley Trek can be done by anyone from any age group. So, prior trekking experience is not needed but you need to be in a fit condition. You can make a detour to Gosainkunda Lake or Helambu Valley if you have the interest to explore more of this region.

    Day 10 :

    Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu Airport.

    Your arrival in Kathmandu will be marked by landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). A company representative of Himalayan Adventure Treks & Tours will receive you and transfer you to your hotel. Evening you can meet the participants and the trek members. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

    Day 02: Drive From Kathmandu to Syabru Besi (1503m) 6-7 Hours. (B/L/D)

    On this day, we drive out to Syabru Besi from Kathmandu by Bus. The road is full of exciting scenes and views of mountains covered with forests following the Trishuli River. We stay in a lodge in Syabru Besi. You can explore the surrounding area in the evening.

    Day 03: Trek From Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel (2500m) 6-7 Hours. (B/L/D)

    After, breakfast we will start to trek from Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel. The journey following the Tibet originates river Bhote Khosi and the Langtang Khola. The trail winds its way up past Bamboo Village, which is famous for its resident red pandas.

    Day 04: Trek From Lama Hotel to Langtang Valley (3430m) 5-6 Hours. (B/L/D)

    Today is our other day of vigorous walking is ahead of us as we start seriously ascending up the mountain. Today, we get the opportunity to explore Ghoda tabla, the Langtang Village, etc.

    The Langtang village is rife with flat-topped Tibetan-style lodgings, crop fields, and yak grazing grounds. The hearty exercise comes with the attendant reward of fantastic scenery as we went our way through forests of pink and white rhododendron, hemlock, and oak high above the Langtang Khola.

    Day 05: Trek From Langtang Valley to Kyanjin Gumba ( 3835m) 3-4 Hours. (B/L/D)

    On this day, we trek to Kyanjin Gumba. It is a short trek of about 3-4 hours with the views on mountains and snow-covered peaks. In the afternoon, you can explore the Yak Cheese Factory. The fantastic views of the natural landscape and mountains are impressive.

    Day 06: Explore Day in Kyanjin Gumba & Hike to Kyanjin Ri ( 4773m). (B/L/D)

    Today, we linger in the Kyanjin Gumba because today is our Acclimatization day. It helps us to adjust to the high altitude. We will take the short trip around the Kyanjin Gumba. During the trip we will hike to Kyanjin Ri (behind the village) affords breathtaking panoramas of the Langtang peaks.

    Day 07: Trek From Kaynjin Gumba to Lama Hotel (2500m) 5-6 Hours. (B/L/D)

    On this day, our trekking returns back to Lama Hotel from Kyanjin Gumba. The views along the way are impressive while returning back to the Hotel. We stay overnight in Lama Hotel. You can explore the surrounding area if we came in time before the evening.

    Day 08: Trek From Lama Hotel to Syabru Besi (1503m) 5-6 Hours. (B/L/D)

    On this day, we trek back to Syabru Besi from Lama Hotel. The trail is the same but the excitement is more while returning back to the destination. The views of mountains and natural vegetation are impressive along the valley through the trail. We stay overnight in Syabru Besi.

    Day 09: Drive From Syabru Besi to Kathmandu By Bus 6-7 Hours. (B/L/D)

    On this day, we drive back to Kathmandu from Syabru Besi. After a 6-7 hours drive, we reach Kathmandu. You will be transferred to the hotel where you either have leisure time or you may catch the last moments exploring the missed sights or shopping for gifts to your nearest ones.

    In the evening we will have a farewell dinner at an authentic Nepalese restaurant with cultural performance.

    Day 10: Departure to Airport. (B)

    A representative from Himalayan Adventure Treks and Tours will take you to the airport, approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.

What do I need to bring?

Equipment List for Langtang Valley Trek:

Langtang Valley Trek is moderate trekking but however our long-year experience of operating Trekking to Nepal, We learn many things and would like to give some information to pack your equipment list for your Trekking and we hope, this information will be helpful you so success your trip.

Luggage/Duffle bag:

You will require a duffel bag or a backpack for trekking (65- 75 L) max and all our trekking stuff are kept in this duffle bag and this will be carried by our porters. However, Himalayan Adventure also provides the duffle back if needed.

A day backpack:

You will need a day backpack and you will be carrying it every day by yourself and we recommend you it has to be at least 25L and you can carry important documents like Passport, credit card along with a need to carry a water bottle, snacks bar and clothing layers (hat, gloves, fleece, sunblock, poles, etc…).

Trekking/Hiking boots:

Langtang Valley is a moderate trek and It is very important to have good trekking boots and it should be waterproof (in case of snow, or rain) Make sure it should be fit on your feet and comfortable during walking. Also, recommend you bring the Crompton during the winter season in Nepal.

Sport Sandals:

You need to have a pair of sports shoes or sandals to use while you are in camp or tea houses after the trek.

Sneakers:

Langtang Valley Trek is moderate trekking so sneakers are not suitable for this trek so you can leave your sneakers in Kathmandu hotel until you get back.

Sleeping Bag:

You need to have a lightweight sleeping bag that works for the minus 15 degrees for the summer season but during the winter we recommend minus 20 degrees for the trekking. Himalayan Adventure can provide it if you need one but has to be returned after the trek.

Fleece jacket: 

You need to have good quality fleece jacket at least 1 synthetic jacket or pullovers are a great alternative to fleece because they are lighter and more compressible and gives you enough warmth during the trekking.

Down jacket:

Down jacket is compulsory and recommends you to bring the warm enough so can keep you warm during the  Trek.

Socks:

You need to have at least 5 pairs of thick socks during the spring & autumn but winter and monsoon need at list 7 pairs of socks for this trekking.

Lightweight/ warm insulated pants:

You need to have at least 3 pairs of lightweight trekking pants like Lightweight expedition thermal bottoms, Nylon hiking shorts, Softshell and hardshell trekking pants, Water/windproof trousers, and Casual pants so we can use as the weather.

Short-sleeved shirts:

You need to have 3 ice-breaker merino wool to keep you warm from the cold or synthetic shirts and if you are not allergic to wool products, merino wool is the ideal for Langtang Valley Trek. Himalayan Adventure also provides the 1 company T-shirt as a souvenir.

Long-sleeved shirts: 

You need to have at least three shirts.

Underwear:

You need to have few pairs of underwear and this can be as much as you need as there are no washing facilities every day on Langtang Valley Trek so, we highly recommend you to have enough pair of underwear.

Waterproof jacket: 

You need at least one waterproof jacket for the rain/snow and wind for the Langtang Valley Trek and waterproof pants may be on option.

Head and face gear:

Sun Hat or cap during the day time, Woolen Hat for morning & Evening and Polarized sunglasses are compulsory.

Hand gear:

You need warm gloves.

Traveling supplies:

Adapter Plug for Charging the Camera and Mobile, Camera belt, Passport belt ( nice to have), Swiss army knife (option), Flashlight, Headlamp, Water bottle, Extra camera battery, Hand sanitizer, Alarm clock, Hiking poles (optional ) and Binoculars (optional).

Toiletries:

Razor, razor blades, shaving cream, aftershave toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, sunscreen, toilet paper, small towel, and period pads (for women).

Medication:

First Aid Medical Kit box (can be purchased in Thamel Kathmandu), Altitude Medicines (Diamox), Tylenol, aspirin, ibuprofen, Anti-diarrheic, Powerful antibiotics, and Nasal Spray or Drops.
