Description

Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek is the most famous route in the southern foothills of the Annapurna massif. From the rustic Gurung villages to stunning landscapes, this trek offers everything you can ask for. Moreover, overnight stops at homestays will provide you with an exciting insight into the local Gurung culture. All in all, the easy trail, grand natural beauty, and ethnicity.

At the same time preparation day, we explore Kathmandu which is one of the historical cities in Nepal and home to many of the cultural UNESCO heritage sites. Kathmandu day tour takes a day to complete and offers the Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

The trek is 10 days long and starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The trek heads north as you trek past Ulleri to reach Ghorepani village. From Poonhill, you get to see the sunrise over the mountains in Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. Machhapuchhre (6997 m), Mardi Himal (5553 m), and Lamjung Himal (7454 m).

    Day 10 :

     Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu Airport.

    Your arrival in Kathmandu will be marked by landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). A company representative of Himalayan Adventure Treks & Tours will receive you and transfer you to your hotel. Evening you can meet the participants and the trek members. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

    Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley & Preparation Day. (B)

    After breakfast, we start for Kathmandu city tour which includes the four of the UNESCO world heritage site in the valley.

    Pashupatinath: The temple is one of the most sacred pilgrims’ sites for Hindus all over the world. It is the temple of Lord Shiva, the temple where the dead bodies are criminated on the bank of Bagmati River.

     Boudhanath Stupa: which is one of the biggest stupas in Asia and holiest Budisht Pilgrims and famous tourist destination in Valley. It is also famous for over 50 Tibetan gompas or monasteries.

    Kathmandu Durbar Square: It holds the places of the ancient king who ruled over the then Kathmandu Kingdom.

    Swayambhunath(Monkey Temple): It is located in the heart of the valley, it is another famous tourist destination and holiest Buddhist pilgrims, it is also known as Monkey temple among tourist.

    Day 03: Drive From Kathmandu to Pokhara (914m) 6-7 Hours. (B)

    This drive will take most of our morning time after breakfast leaving much of the afternoon to get a warming glimpse of Pokhara Valley and fall in love with its ethereal beauty.
    Pokhara is the tourist’s paradise full of natural as well as cultural heritage sites such as lakes, caves, Buddhist and Hindu temples along with the magnificent views of mountains. You can observe the glistening white peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Evening you can walk around the Fewa lake.

    You can also visit the Tal Barahai Temple (Island Temple) and boating in Lake. Stay overnight at hotel in Pokhara.

    Day 04: Drive From Pokhara to  Nayapul (1050m) & Trek to Tikhedhunga (1577m) 3-4 Hours. (B/L/D)

    The morning after breakfast we take a taxi to Nayapul about one and a half hour's drive to see the Annapurna ranges and Scenery of Pokhara. You begin your trek from Nayapul (1050m.) and pass via Birethanti (1065m).

    The first part of your trek is comfortable, alongside numerous small hamlets and settlements. Afterward, you ascend gently to the final destination of the day to Tikhedhunga (1577m). The journey will involve four and a half hours of trekking. Stay overnight at lodge.

    Day 05: Trek From Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2860m) 6-7 Hours. (B/L/D)

    Your trek begins from Tikhedhunga Gurung village with a steep 2 hours ascend and then level gently passing through Magar villages of Ulleri (2070m) and Banthanti. On the way, you can see the scenic view of Machhapuchhare or Fish Tail (6997m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and Annapurna South (7219m).

    Now your trail becomes easier, as it passes through the oak, rhododendrons, and fir forest and descends gently to the final camp. Stay overnight at lodge.

    Day 06: Trek From Ghorepani to Tadapani (2675m) Via Poon Hill (3210m) 6-7 Hours. (B/L/D)

    Today is one of the most important days of the Ghorepani poonhill trek and the best part of the trek. The total duration of the trek for the day is about 6-7 hours. Early morning hike to Poon Hill (3210m) allows you to enjoy the sunrise amazing view over Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tukuche Peak (6920m), Nilgiri (6940m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Annapurna III (7855m), Machhapuchhare (6993m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna II (7937m), Lamjung Himal (6931m) and other numerous snowcapped mountain peaks.

    After breakfast, we continue our trek to another beautiful Tadapani village. En-route, you will frequently see waterfalls, rocks, wild animals, local birds, and green vegetation. Stay overnight at lodge.

    Day 07: Trek From Tadapani to Ghandruk (1950m) 3-4 Hours. (B/L/D)

    It is an easy descent all the way, passing through the dense forest of oak, rhododendrons, and fir. Today is the easy and short walk but you will have enough time to explore the Ghandruk village during the day time. This is one of the popular destinations for bird lovers. Ghandruk is a picturesque Gurung village famous for its culture and traditional local houses and warm hospitality. You can enjoy the great mountains views and the Gurung settlements. Stay overnight at lodge.

    Day 08: Trek From Ghandruk to Pokhara Via Birethati (1025m) 5-6 Hours. (B/L)

    The early part of your trek is a steep descent following the stone staircase to Kimbu (Beehive). Kimbu or Beehive is located at the elevation of 1200 meters on the bank of Modi Khola. Following the river with deep valley and pony trail. Last meal on the Birethati (1025m) enjoying the river view then drove back to Pokhara by Taxi from Nayapul around one and a half-hour drive.

    Day 09: Drive From Pokhara to Kathmandu By Tourist Bus 6-7 Hours. (B/D)

    On the way, you will head up to Damauli, Dumre, Muglin, and Kurintar, where Nepal's first cable car joins the Manakamana Temple. From Naubishe you climb up to Thankot, the gateway to the capital city of Kathmandu.

    Evening you can do shopping in Thamel for your friends & family. Evening we will celebrate the farewell dinner at an authentic Nepalese restaurant with a cultural performance.

    Day 10: Departure to Airport. (B)

    A representative from Himalayan Adventure Treks and Tours will take you to the airport, approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.

What do I need to bring?

 

Equipment List for Ghorepani Poonhill Trek:

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek is easy to trek even though we need the types of equipment for this trek and we hope, this information will be helpful to you so success your trip.

Luggage/Duffle bag:

You will require a duffel bag or a backpack for trekking (45- 55 L) max and all our trekking stuff are kept in this duffle bag and this will be carried by our porters. However, Himalayan Adventure also provides the duffle back if needed.

A day backpack:

You will need a day backpack and you will be carrying it every day by yourself and we recommend you it has to be at least 25L and you can carry important documents like Passport, credit card along with a need to carry a water bottle, snacks bar and clothing layers (hat, gloves, fleece, sunblock, poles, etc…).

Trekking/Hiking boots:

It is very important to have good trekking boots and it should be waterproof (in case of snow, or rain) Make sure it should be fit on your feet and comfortable during walking. Also, recommend you bring the Crompton during the winter season in Nepal.

Sport sandals:

You need to have a pair of sports shoes or sandals to use while you are in camp or tea houses after the trek.

Sneakers:

Better to have trekking boots so sneakers are not suitable for this trek so you can leave your sneakers in Kathmandu hotel until you get back.

Sleeping Bag:

You need to have a lightweight sleeping bag that works for the minus 10 degrees for the summer season but during the winter we recommend minus 15 degrees for the Everest short trek. Himalayan Adventure can provide it if you need one but has to be returned after the trek.

Fleece jacket: 

You need to have good quality fleece jacket at least 1 synthetic jacket or pullovers are a great alternative to fleece because they are lighter and more compressible and gives you enough warmth during the trekking.

Down jacket:

Down jacket is compulsory and recommends you to bring the warm enough so can keep you warm during the trek.

Socks:

You need to have at least 2 pairs of thick socks during the spring & autumn but winter and monsoon need at list 3 pairs of socks for the Ghorepani Poonhill Trek.

Lightweight/ warm insulated pants:

You need to have at least 2 pairs of lightweight trekking pants like Lightweight Pants/ Nylon hiking shorts, Water/windproof trousers, and Casual pants so we can use it as the weather.

Short-sleeved shirts:

You need to have 2 ice-breaker merino wool to keep you warm from the cold or synthetic shirts and if you are not allergic to wool products, merino wool is the ideal for Ghorepani Poonhill Trek.

Long-sleeved shirts: 

You need to have at least two shirts.

Underwear:

You need to have a few pairs of underwear and this can be as much as you need as there are no washing facilities during the trek so, we highly recommend you to have enough pair of underwear.

Waterproof jacket: 

You need at least one waterproof jacket for the rain/snow and wind and waterproof pants may be on option.

Head and face gear:

Sun Hat or cap during the day time, Woolen Hat for morning & Evening and Polarized sunglasses are compulsory.

Hand gear:

You need warm gloves.

Traveling supplies:

Adapter Plug for Charging the Camera and Mobile, Camera belt, Passport belt ( nice to have), Swiss army knife (option), Flashlight, Headlamp, Water bottle, Extra camera battery, Hand sanitizer, Alarm clock, Hiking poles (optional ) and Binoculars (optional).

Toiletries:

Razor, razor blades, shaving cream, aftershave toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, sunscreen, toilet paper, small towel, and period pads (for women).

Medication:

First Aid Medical Kit box (can be purchased in Thamel Kathmandu), Altitude Medicines (Diamox), Tylenol, aspirin, ibuprofen, Anti-diarrheic, Powerful antibiotics, and Nasal Spray or Drops.
