Trek to Africa's highest peak- Mount Kilimanjaro- soaring above the low hills of northeastern Tanzania via the oldest route- Marangu. Explore the rainforests and heather moors on the trek. Join this tour with an adventurous safari to Serengeti to witness the greatest wildlife show on earth.

DAY 01

Day 1: Marangu Hut to Mandara Hut

  • Once you are picked up from the airport, take a short drive from Moshi town to the Kilimanjaro Park Gate (1,830 m), which lies at the edge of Marangu.

  • Complete the entrance formalities and climb up through an attractive and unspoiled forest to reach the clearing containing Mandara Hut (2,700 m).

  • Go on an excursion to the volcanic remains of Maundi Crater in the afternoon or take a rest and enjoy the beautiful forest brimming with rich birdlife and monkeys.

DAY 02

Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

  • Take a steep ascent through the forest and arrive at the grassy moorland. Get good views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks from here if the weather is clear.

  • Climb steadily through the moorland zone, which contains giant heather and occasional stands of groundsel.

  • Reach Horombo Hut. Sunrises and sunsets here are often very stunning. This region is close to the glaciated dome of Kibo, and there is a real sense of being above the clouds.

DAY 03

Day 3: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

  • Take a gradual climb towards the lunar desert of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. The terrain has a palpable sense of high-altitude wilderness.

  • Arrive at Kibo Hut at the bottom of the crater wall by midday (to contemplate the summit ascent).

  • Take rest and prepare yourself for the final climb.

DAY 04

Day 4: Summit Day

  • Begin the ascent at 1 a.m. so that you can reach Gillman’s Point (5,685 m) by sunrise.

  • Take some rest and spend some time marvelling at the beauty of the incredible sunrise view.

  • Make the three-hour round trip from here along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,896 m) if you are not tired.

  • Pass by the spectacular glaciers that still occupy most of the summit area.

  • Return to Horombo Hut for the night.

DAY 05

Day 5: Horombo Hut to Moshi

  • Enjoy your breakfast and begin a pleasant moorland walk to Mandara.

  • Take a lovely forest walk to the national park gate and from there to Moshi town. The greenness and lushness of the forest are quite a stunning contrast to the summit day.

DAY 06

Day 6: Arusha - Serengeti National Park

  • Leave Arusha early morning and head towards Serengeti National Park. The golden savannah and plains, with sights of zebras and giraffes, make it easier to understand why the Serengeti is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa.

  • Enjoy lunch at a picnic spot on Naabai Kopje - a small hill in a flat area and witness Serengati's pink-headed lizards.

  • After lunch, proceed further for a leisurely game drive.

  • Return to the campsite.

DAY 07

Day 7: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

  • Begin the day with an early morning game drive in central Serengeti. A well-versed guide would study the prints on the ground to pursue predators.

  • See the carnivores like leopards, lions, hyenas, and cheetahs in the park. Varied bird species can also be seen here, including eagles, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, storks, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea fowl. Other common species found here include hippo, giraffe, eland, impala and other antelope types, baboons, monkeys and more.

  • Then, head towards Ngorongoro Conservation.

  • Spend the night at the campsite and have dinner.

DAY 08

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

  • After breakfast, head towards Ngorongoro Crater in the early morning to spot animals.

  • Go on an early morning game drive and get a chance to witness the early morning kills from the Big Five - a group comprised of a lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo. The Ngorongoro Crater formed over two million years ago when a large volcano erupted but left an unbroken crater.

  • Expect to view playful zebra, hippos, hyenas, flamingos, vultures and more.
