Description

Do you love to have ice-cream? Then this experience is exactly what you are looking for.

Genoa is a beautiful city with a rich history and cuisine. Italian ice cream tradition and experimental techniques reach here at a very interesting level which you will enjoy during the tour. We will visit four ice cream and gelato shops where we will discover the history of the sweet and creamy Italian ice cream. The sellers will describe the making of and the unique procedures behind the fabulous and most famous sweet treat.

We will not miss the chance of tasting the only and true local gelato flavor - Panera. This is a delicious, creamy, espresso coffee frozen dessert, which you can find only in Genoa, a refreshing treat during summers. You will also have the opportunity of visiting one of the oldest chocolate and ice cream factories in Genoa, established in 1866.

We will also visit the historic center of Genoa. First traveling by public transport and then on foot, you will see the oldest sites in the city where you will admire the imposing façade of the cathedral of San Lorenzo, the Palace of the Doge, and the narrow steep medieval alleys, called Genoese Caruggi. Walking across the city center, you will see the amazing interiors of the city's churches and other notable places like UNESCO World Heritage Sites from 2006.

We will also see Piazza De Ferrari, the main square since the unification of Italy, the main medieval gate, Porta Soprana, and the near-by Casa di Colombo (Columbus' house).

Meet your Host
Fabrizia Scortecci

I was born in Genoa and I have been a licensed tour guide since 2012. I work and study with devotion to discover the unusual aspects of my city, viewed from a different perspective.
I have a Master’s Degree in Slavic Languages and Literatures (Polish and Russian) and in the nineties, I spent almost ten years living in Russia, Poland, and Israel.

When I came back to Genoa, in early 2000, my growing interest in arts and local history, along with a deep interest in working with people, made me focus on studying jobs related to tourism. I studied once again at university, this time Art History and Local History.
Since 2012, when I became a licensed tour guide, I have been involved in several projects pertaining to the artistic heritage of Genoa, including the Festival of Poetry, the Festival of Science, and tours relating to the Genoese monumental cemetery of Staglieno.

I love to travel with my family, I also developed several family-friendly tours. Throughout my years of humanistic studies, I have developed a passion for Jewish culture. For this reason, I have made a project called “Genoa Unveiled” dedicated to Genoese Jewish cultural sites. Hope to see you soon in Genoa!
