Description

Discover the wonders of the historical centre of Annecy and ramble along its charming medieval streets and small alleyways. Annecy, the main city of Haute-Savoie, is often given the name "Venice of the Alps" because of the canals flowing all around the city and giving it a kind of Italian atmosphere.

This Online Experience will take you on a virtual live-streamed tour from a terrace overlooking the roofs of the old town to the shores of the second largest lake in France via the maze of the arcade, with Côte Saint-Maurice as our starting point. As we walk along the canal and through the streets and alleyways dating back to the medieval age, you will learn about the history of the former state of Savoy and the secrets of the "Palace on the Island," a monetary workshop that became a prison and is now a museum. You will also get to see the treasures of some of the most iconic churches in Annecy, such as the very first monastery of the Visitation, founded by St. Francis of Sales in the 17th century.
This tour will end by the Lake of Annecy, with a dreamy landscape with surrounded by mountains and a medieval castle on either side. If you like turquoise waters, colourful façades, rocky peaks or the history behind a stone galley navigating the river, Annecy is the place to explore!

Emilie Bissardon

I've been a professional guide in Geneva since 2009. I studied at the University of Geneva for the Certificate of Advanced Studies "Patrimoine et Tourisme". I work with the tourist office of Geneva and the museum of the Martin Bodmer Foundation. I'm passionate about the history of Geneva. It's so rich that there's always more to discover and I love that! I also appreciate the melting pot of cultures from around the world in a human-scale city where you can do everything on foot and go from the lake to the historical center to a park in a flash.
