Come and join me to explore Lucca, a charming little town situated in northwest Tuscany. Founded by the Romans in the 2nd Century B.C, its historical centre has always been surrounded by walls, which have expanded and changed more than once over the centuries in order to protect the population. The last ring of the wall dates back to the Renaissance and can be considered as the most iconic masterpiece the town is famous for: being perfectly preserved it was turned into a lovely promenade in the early 1800 and you will be surprised to see how gorgeous it is!
On this Online Experience, you will admire the 19th Century squares of Napoleone and Giglio, as well as a couple of the most important Churches, such as the one of St. Michael and the Cathedral of St. Martin, both with amazing facades rich in lavishly carved columns displaying flowers, animals and many other detailed ornaments. The Cathedral has a wonderful portico decorated with many a medieval bas-relief, but there is one, in particular, that we will learn more about!

Walking along narrow alleys and small piazzas, we will move ahead towards two unmissable places of interest: the Medieval Torre Guinigi, featuring an unusual “green” top, and the Piazza Anfiteatro, the former Roman Coliseum turned into an extremely quaint square with lots of apartments!
