Azerbaijan has always been one of the most important and prosperous countries in the Southern Caucasus region because of its location and natural resources. Historically it was a part of the Silk Route, making it a hotspot for traders and historians.
During this live-streamed online walking tour, you will visit the Old City of Baku, which is a UNESCO Site. We will walk by some of its historical buildings built in European architectural style and were used later by the oil barons as their mansions when Azerbaijan experienced the Oil Boom in the 19th century. We will also see the Philharmonic building, ex-Soviet metro stations, and also the tower of Kyz-Kalasy in the Old city. Witness the contrast as you travel virtually between the old and new times on the same day as we see skyscrapers as well as old caravansaries, bathhouses, mosques and so much more!
