8 Hours Shore Excursion tour itinerary for Porto: Take An Excursion To Douro Valley
Experience the historical Douro River and more spectacular scenery on this first demarcated region World wines. Head to Porto, an ephemeral part of Portugal, to take in the essence of this wonderful city.
Leave the city of Porto, toward the Douro valley, a unique place where the combination of climate, river, grapes and man's effort gave rise to the first demarcated region, for the production of Port wine. Picturesque location, verdant landscapes and lush nature, is what you will come across at the first glance.
The first stop will be at the charming town of Amarante. This ancient town is filled with fine Romanesque architecture. While there, you will visit, the 16th-century Monastery of São Goncalo, on the banks of the river, as well as the lovely Roman Bridge.
Leave Amarante toward the Douro valley, passing through Peso da Regua, and you will arrive in Pinhao.
First, visit the traditional train station, adorned with historic tiles depicting the culture of the region.
After lunch, embark on a traditional Riverboat (Rebelo at Pinhão ) and more spectacular scenery. Or you will continue this wine tour at the famous award-winning winery of Sandeman Quinta do Seixo.

Wine Tasting at Quinta do Seixo Sandeman , situated in the sub-region of the Upper Corgo River, in the heart of the Douro Demarcated Region, covers an area of 99 hectares, 65 of which are vineyards. It is one of Sogrape Vinhos' largest estates in the region, produces Port wine and Douro DOP and is equipped with the most advanced wine-making technology. It is possible to watch the robotic wine presses at work in the cellars.
