  • Day 1 - Arrive at Iquitos expand_more
    • You will be picked up from the airport. On the drive, learn about the wonders of the Peruvian jungle and how they are conserved. 
    • Head to Nauta and embark on a boat ride to reach Curuhuinsi Lodge, located three hours from Iquitos. See the wonderful landscapes of the Peruvian jungle and the small rural houses located on the river banks. 
    • Before arriving at the Lodge, make a brief stop to see the three most important rivers of Peru meet: the Amazon River, the Marañón River and the Ucayali River. Here, you can see pink dolphins.
    • Be welcomed with a refreshing fruit juice in the lodge. Proceed to check-in and enjoy an Amazonian lunch at the lodge.
    • At 2:00 pm, go for a boat excursion to familiarise yourself with the jungle and the area where the lodge is located. Observe the convergence of the murky brown water of the Amazon River with the dark water of the tributary river Yarapa and Cumaceba. 
    • See different animals such as the pink dolphin, monkeys, butterflies, birds etc. Move to one of the tributaries of the Amazon River to learn about various fishing techniques like Artisanal Fishing. Enjoy fishing manta rays in the river.
    • Continue into the jungle to observe alligators. The guide will take you to places where it is easier to spot these wild animals. At night, you can see a clear sky and the splendid shine of the moon, as well as the stars.

    Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

  • Day 2 - Pacaya Samiria expand_more
    • Have breakfast in the lodge and start the morning trek through the jungle. During the tour, learn to identify the diverse flora and fauna. See different species of monkeys and gigantic trees like Lupuna (Ceiba Tree). 
    • Learn about the medicinal plants that the locals use for disease lactation, including the traditional aphrodisiac beverages.
    • Attend a class on how to survive in the jungle by the guide. 
    • Collect some typical forest food, such as palm heart and mushrooms, that you will eat for lunch.
    • Head back to the lodge and have lunch. Take a nap at a hammock house.
    • Visit a native community located in Puerto Miguel to meet the local people and trade some handicrafts.
    • Have the opportunity to learn and observe their way of living on the banks of the Amazon River. Enjoy interacting with the inhabitants, learn about their farming and fishing techniques. Observe their customs and traditions, and lifestyle. 
    • Take a short boat trip to a lake and appreciate the majestic Victoria Regia, the queen of aquatic lilies. Here you can spot some white flowers, which turn pink on their second day. 
    • Admire pink dolphins while you enjoy the fresh water of the river.
    • End the day watching a beautiful sunset from the boat. Return to the Lodge for dinner.
    • Walk through the jungle at night in search of tarantulas, scorpions, snakes and giant frogs! Enjoy listening to the magical sounds of insects, birds, cats and owls.
  • Day 3 - Back to Iquitos expand_more
    • Go for an early morning (5:30 am) birdwatching tour and observe the different species of birds; Macaws, Toucan, Hoatzin and Horned Screamer.
    • Return to the lodge and have breakfast.
    • Enjoy canoeing and artisanal fishing. Learn to fish piranhas in the dark tributary rivers of the Amazon. Have lunch with the piranhas caught during the fishing expedition. 
    • Before departing, have a final discussion about the problems faced by the jungle and how we can save it. 
    • Leave the Lodge to head back to Iquitos. Drop off at the airport or hotel, depending on your flight timing.
